Shock As Cop Shoots Himself Dead At Police Station

By Our Reporter

The Police in Kasese District are investigating circumstances under which one of their own men committed suicide  by shooting himself dead.

Francis Madici, 28,  who was attached to the Field Force Unit-FFU at Hima Division police station, reportedly shot himself dead on Tuesday afternoon, although he did not leave behind a suicide note to reveal the mourners why he had decided to end his life.

Sources at the scene told this website that the deceased shot himself through the chin at the station on Tuesday afternoon in the presence of other police officers.

Christopher Happy, the Hima town council Deputy Mayor, who was known to the deceased, said residents were alerted by the gunshot and moments later saw police officers taking measurements at the suicide scene.

A police officer at Hima division police station revealed to this website on condition of anonymity that the deceased spent the better part of Monday by himself and in a low mood, although he didn’t confide in colleagues what was disturbing him.

He however said there were no known serious issues around his life.

When contacted about the matter, the Rwenzori Region Police Commander Samuel Asiimwe declined to comment on the matter saying the police are still investigating and that the Police spokesperson SP Patrick Onyango would issue a report when it is ready.
