The executive director of Mulago National Referral Hospital, Dr Byarugaba Baterana has been arrested by the State House Health Monitoring Unit.
The arrest has been conducted to follow up on the drug procurement process and management of the hospital.
Dr. Byarugaba Baterana, Mulago National Referral Hospital executive director, was on Tuesday arrested by the State House Health Monitoring Unit (HMU), after his arrest, he was taken to the HMU offices in Nakasero in Kampala.
Dr. Warren Namara, the director of the HMU, confirmed Baterana’s arrest and said he was at the HMU offices in Nakasero recording statements.
“We assisted him to come to our office in order to help us with investigations of Mulago National Referral Hospital since he is the accounting officer,” said Namara
He said that during their investigations, they had got queries on a number of things.
“We got queries on plant, machinery, financial and human resources, general management, among others. So we are asking him [Baterana] to assist us in understanding a few of those things,” added Namara.
