City Oilers registered a hard-fought 83-75 victory against Ndejje Angels in the National Basketball League at Lugogo Arena on Wednesday night.

Just like it had been before, City Oilers kicked off on the front foot but Ndejje Angels kept fighting all through the game to keep the result in sight. It was a fierce battle between the two sides who normally are not shy to take on each other. For starters, Ndejje handed City Oilers their only loss last season thus setting up an epic show on Valentine’s Day.

However, it was no love affair as the City Oilers were in a commanding situation throughout the game, getting out of the blocks early to lead 28-15.Going into the halftime break, Ndejje Angels reduced the deficit to 11 (44-33). The Angels improved their game defensively in the second quarter limiting City Oilers to 16 points, 12 less from the first quarter’s harvest.

In the third quarter, the Angels had a different approach to the game staging a pressure that was capitalised on City Oilers’ fallback in hunger and aggression in the game. At the end of the period, the Angels were trailing by seven.

Ndejje continued with the hard work into the fourth quarter, they hardly allowed City Oilers to break away thus boiling pressure and arousing emotions on either bench. At full-time, City Oilers snatched an eight-point game.

Ndejje’s Christian Ndibu was instrumental in Ndejje’s fight with a double-double scoring 20 points and pulling down 21 rebounds while Cikom Monybai and Jonathan Oketch added 16 and 11 points. On the other side, Fayed Bbale and Titus Lual scored 17 points each before James Okello added 16 on the day.
