Bobi Wine Moves To Deny Lukwago, Chameleone Kampala Lord Mayor Position

By Keefa Nuwahereza

Kyadondo East legislator Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, who is the National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential aspirant, has decided to deny Hajji Elias Lukwago and his longtime pal Joseph Mayanja aka Jose Chameleone an opportunity to win the 2021 Kampala Lord Mayoral race.

This comes after Bobi Wine endorsed Kawempe North Member of Parliament Latif Ssebagala to contest for the position of Lord Mayor on the NUP ticket against Jose Chameleone of Democratic Party and the incumbent Lukwago, who will contest on the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) ticket.

We have established that Bobi Wine’s NUP on Saturday September 19, 2020 endorsed Ssebagala to contest as Lord Mayor in the 2021 general election and vowed to do everything to ensure that he sails through as winner.

However, political analysts contend that Bobi Wine’s  decision is likely to cause a very sharp division especially between him and Chameleone, a fellow musician turned politician.

This is because although Chameleone is a DP member, he had a few months ago declared his intention to contest for the Lord Mayoral seat on NUP ticket.

But it is said that Bobi Wine and Chameleone strongly disagreed  about the decision and the two have since remained at loggerheads.

Meanwhile,0 all that notwithstanding, Chameleone has for the past several weeks been campaigning for the Lord Mayor seat using NUP colours and symbols.

It is thus not clear whether he will continue using the same political symbols  and NUP colours during his campaigns now that Bobi Wine has endorsed  Ssebagala.
