A call for mental health understanding.

The Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Anita Among on Monday morning officiated at the launch of the Mental Health week at Parliament.
In her remarks, Hon Among said that discussions about mental health are very important in creating awareness, as well as building understanding of the fact that mental health issues remain a problem to many people
Hon Among therefore said that people from all walks of life should know that mental health problems must be addressed inclusively and decisively.
She revealed that factors such as depression, unemployment, isolation, poverty, loss of loved one, as well as failure to pay a debt can all lead to anxiety which in the end lead to mental breakdown.
Hon Among called upon employers, recruiting agencies and security agencies to consider mandatory periodic counseling services and background checks to mitigate the mental health related effects.
