Why boxing federation president Muhangi was sent to jail.

Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) president Moses Muhangi was Thursday remanded to Luzira Prison on charges of uttering false documents and forged accountability.
Muhangi was remanded by the Nakawa Court Chief Magistrate Ritah Kidasa until May 31.
Speaking to Vision Sports from his cell, Muhangi begged the Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataha Museveni, and President Yoweri Museveni to intervene.
“I am only requesting for President Yoweri Museveni and Minister of Sports Janet Museveni to intervene in the affairs affecting the sports sector,” a nearly teary Muhangi said.
Muhangi’s lawyer, Phillip Munaabi, said they are going to work tooth and nail to have a production warrant for Muhangi.

“We are trying our best to expedite the bail hearing of our client and provide satisfactory evidence to the bail hearing,” he said.
Nakawa Court was packed with fans, coaches, boxers, and officials, including the Uganda Professional Boxing Commission president Salim Uhuru, Isaac Ssenyange Jr, and Yusuf Nkobeza.
Muhangi and his co-accused, the former federation accountant, Lydia Namuleme, allegedly presented a sh3.5m receipt to the Public Accounts Committee whose authenticity was queried.
