African Singapore: How Information Technology Is Super-charging Rwanda’s Economy Despite COVID-19 Crisis

The growth
of Rwanda's information and communications technology sector is stimulating
innovation across the society, despite the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis and subsequent
lockdown.
Recently,
the Rwandan government introduced robots that can screen 150 people for
Coronavirus a time. The machines are aimed at beating the delays usually
involved in testing and waiting for COVID-19 results, a process that takes at
least 24 hours.
Besides the COVID-19 Robots, Rwanda recently introduced luxury commuter buses that use Smart Cards. All a passenger does is board the bus, retrieve a smart card from his/her wallet and swipe it against a machine next to the driver.
