Shock as a primary school teacherĀ  died in lake Bunyonyi.

A Primary school teacher has drowned in water as he struggled to swim back to the dock at Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale district.
The Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman ASP Elly Maate identified the deceased as Ochet Christopher 27, a teacher at Genesis Nursery and primary school Kekubo in Kabale Municipality.
The incident happened on Sunday 26th Feb 2023 at around 7:30Am after the deceased signed out with some pupils for morning jogging up to the lake and later opted to swim but on his way back to the Dock, he failed to make it to the shore.
His body was retrieved from the water on Monday at around 14:00hrs by the Local divers and the Marine Police.
A joint team of the security leadership of both Kabale and Rubanda had early in the morning addressed the community operating Business around the Lake on how to prevent water incidents and how they should freely work with the marine Police to minimize any type of complaint thereon.
Present was the RPC SSP Saiga Ibrahim, RDC Kabale District Godfrey Nyakahuma and His counterpart Lillian Ruteraho of Rubanda, RISO Maj. Jerome Mugarura, DPC Kabale District SP Ruganza Abel and his counterpart SP Barugahare Abel of Rubanda District.
Others included DISO Kabale Reuben Mutabazi and his counterpart Michael Mwijukye of Rubanda, the OC Marine Police SGT Mushikoma Arajab and twice PC Akol Simon Peter.
The body was later taken to Kabale referral hospital mortuary for postmortem examination and upon which it will be taken to Kwania, the home district for burial.
