Policeman strangled to death in broad daylight.

The Police in Rukungiri District are investigating circumstances under which retired Detective Assistant Inspector of Police Emmanuel Karekaho was strangled to death immediately after withdrawing Ugx 5.2 million from the Bank.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman ASP Elly Maate has confirmed that the deceased Karekaho 61, was a resident of Kyeshoro Village in Nyabitete Parish, Buyanja Sub County in Rukungiri District.
Maate told journalists that on Thursday 6th July 2023 at exactly 11:42am, the retired Police officer withdrew Ugx 5.2 from his account No. 3200340718 of Centenary Bank in Rukungiri Branch and moved out of the banking Hall.
However, later at about 15:30Pm, he was discovered dead at Rwankoma village in Southern Ward, Kebisoni Town Council in Rukungiri District.
Maate explained that the body of the deceased was discovered by Magezi Patrick, a farm manager to Michael Karekaho (not related to the deceased) who was going back home after work on the farm.
Maate said that, according to residents, a Toyota Wish motor vehicle whose registration was not identified was seen parked at the scene before the body was discovered.
Magezi immediately informed his employer who advised him to report the matter to Kebisoni Police post, which he did and a case was recorded under reference number SD 10/06/07/2023 of Kebisoni Police post.
Maate said that Rukungiri District Central Police Station was notified and they responded in time, by visiting the scene and examining the body where a withdrawal slip of Centenary Bank Rukungiri was recovered within his wallet and a COVID-19 document for the year 2021.
His body was later conveyed to Rwakabengo Health Centre III mortuary for postmortem examination before handing it over to the relatives.
