Ntungamo court further remands Kyamate sss suspects accused of murder.

Ntungamo chief magistrates’ court has further remanded seven former students of Kyamate Senior Secondary School in Ntungamo district who are suspected to have committed an immolation act on a student after setting two dormitories ablaze.
The seven suspects include Kanyesigye Odongo Odamal, Arinatwe Anthony, Tumwesigye Arnold, Arinaitwe Eliajah, Asiimwe Joshua, Tumushabe Wilber and Twesigye Lawrence all senior three students.
The Ntungamo resident state attorney Laudelo Twinomugisha asked the matter to be adjourned as investigation into the allegation is still ongoing.
Among the charges the seven are facing include; One count where the prime suspect Tumushabe Wilber and his colleagues on February 26, 2023, caused the death of a student Bonus Ankwatirire-Kato who was a senior one student, three counts of attempted murder, one count of arson, malicious damage of 196 beds for the school valued at four hundred fifty-seven million (457 million).
While presiding over the court season, His Worship Gordon Muhimbise said that among the 180 charges, the suspect is alleged to have committed, one is a capital offence of murder and therefore his court has no jurisdiction to enter any plea.
Muhimbise further sent the suspects back on remand to Ntungamo prison and one Elijah Arinaitwe a juvenile to Kabale remand home respectively and will re-appear in court on 11th April 2023 for further hearing.
A fire outbreak on the night of February 26, 2023, gutted a block housing two male dormitories at Kyamate Secondary School housing 146 students, reducing their property to ashes, claiming the life of a student and three others wounded.
