The Police in Kabale District are investigating circumstances under which a second-year university student Sarah Naturinda was found dead in her hostel in Kabale municipality.
According to ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, it’s said that, on March 21, 2023, at around 3:45 Pm, a case of the disappearance of the deceased was reported at Kabale police station by the landlord a one Charles Turyatemba.
This was after Naris Ndanganwa the father of the deceased came from home, Bishaki village, Nyombe parish, Kahungye sub-county, Kabale district, to check on the daughter, after taking two days without hearing from her on phone.
The father and others started tracing for her until they went to her rented room, broke the padlock and on entering inside, they found the said Naturinda dead, lying on the bed facing down, tied both hands with a cloth, the mouth, and nose also covered with a cloth.
It’s further alleged that the eye witness last saw the suspect Denis Arinaitwe, the boyfriend to the deceased, in her room, on March 19, 2023, at around 7 am moments before he went to the Police barracks where he shot his wife PC Komuhangi Caroline dead.
Maate said that Police were notified and visited the scene, body was retrieved and conveyed to Kabale referral hospital Mortuary for postmortem Examination.
Investigations into the matter are still ongoing and the suspect, Arinaitwe, is still admitted at Kabale referral hospital and guarded by Kabale police officers, after injuring himself the day he shot dead the police lady.
