Investors to Inject USD 2,350,000, In Mukono Solid Waste Management.

Mukono Municipality is set to benefit in a USD 2,350,00O investment from the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) to address issues related to solid waste and faecal sludge management.

Due to the rapid urbanization, this poses challenges for the municipality in addressing issues related to increased waste management. up to now residents have failed to manage waste and even the contractors in place

Leaders in Mukono welcome the initiative saying garbage has become an everlasting problem. They call for a public sensitization such that people embrace with open hands the new initiative coming to the area.

Allan Mawanda the Mukono Central division speaker commended the investment in the area but lashed out at some leaders who have been in the system and their work have been opposing everything new development in the municipality.

“we would be very far away and these things were supposed to be done a long time ago but the political wing in Mukono has always been opposing everything” Mawanda said.

The Mukono municipality environment officer Masengere George says this is a real opportunity for the people of Mukono and they should welcome the project to increase cleanliness and jobs within the area.

“I predict this project is going to create over 10000 job opportunities in Mukono municipality as well as improving the cleanliness of our town”
