Cabinet has extended the terms of office for local council one and two.
This was revealed by Chris Baryomunsi the minister for CT and National Guidance today 25th July 2023 at a press conference.
He said cabinet invoked a callused in the local government act that empower the minister to extend the terms for a period not to exceeding 180 days.
The extension takes effect from 10th July 2023 when the previousterm expired.
Following the cabinet decision, the minister of local government is expected to present to Parliament asubmission requesting for Parliamentary approval before issuing a notice to the public confirming the extension.
The minister says within the 180 days “government will be looking for funds to curry out elections of the two categories.
