The Police in Rukiga District have arrested four people from the same family in connection with mysterious murder of their sister identified as Christine Kiconco.
The Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate identified the suspects as Innocent Tumwekwase, Christopher Bikorwomuhangi, Samuel Atuhirwe, and Justus Mayumba who are all residents of Rwenderema Village in Ibumba Parish in Rwamucucu Sub County.
According to the police the suspects allegedly assaulted their sister which led to her death.
It’s alleged that the family of the deceased has been having domestic wrangles stemming from land which was divided amongst them by their father Selestino Byaruhanga.
Maate explained that when their father divided land to them, the boys immediately sold off their portions and started claiming the part that was given to girls and since then they have been threatening the deceased.
Its alleged that on March 24, 2023, the deceased went to the bar and returned home at night while drunk and made a lot of noise abusing the brothers for having sold off their share of land that was given to them by their father which was always her common character whenever she got drunk.
It was out of such, that her father instructed her to move out and sleep in the boy’s quarters from where she kept making more noise till she slept off.
However, the following morning when the father of the deceased was still sleeping, one of his sons, Innocent Tumwekwase and daughter in-law Charity Bahimbisomwe went and told him that the daughter was dead and her body was lying in the compound. He immediately woke up and confirmed the same, he reported to police which responded.
Maate said that the scene was visited by the team from the police who , processed and documented by the Police sniffer dog was introduced to the scene and led them to the suspect homes hence arrested.
Maate said that the Postmortem examination was done and some valuable exhibits recovered and the case was registered at Rubanda Central Police Station under reference number CRB 154/2023 to help in investigations.
