Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) has said it will continue with its awareness drives among members of the public as one of the ways to narrow the awareness gap in insurance acceptance. Speaking during the launch of the insurance week at the Railway grounds, IRA Chief Executive Office Alhaji Kaddunabbi Ibrahim Lubega said they have for several years been carrying out awareness drives but said these will continue. “We have taken several steps to narrow the awareness gap in the insurance sector but fundamentally, as a regulator we have improved and increased our budget to move to the entire country at different levels. Uganda Railways Corporation (URC) has signed a trust with safe boda ride and Easy Matatu to enable travelers to purchase train tickets online and also offer first and last-mile transport services. Streaming giant Netflix has cut prices in more than 30 countries as it attempts to attract more subscribers. Prices have been cut in parts of Asia, Europe, Latin America, sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East. The Inspectorate of Government (IGG), Betty Kamya has given 24,000 leaders a 30 days ultimatum to declare their wealth in accordance with the law or face sanctions. Kamya cited articles 233(2) and 234 of the Constitution and section 4 of the Leadership Code Act , that require political leaders and appointed leaders to declare their incomes, assets and liabilities every two years. “The previous declaration was done in March 2021 and therefore all those leaders specified above are required to declare their incomes, assets and liabilities in March 2023. The exercise will run from March 1 and close on March 31. Please take serious note that there is no provision in the law to extend this period,”Kamya said.
