Busoga Royal wedding receives shs1.7 billion in corporate contributions.

In a remarkable display of commitment to preserving cultural heritage and traditions, several Ugandan companies have wholeheartedly contributed to the Busoga royal wedding, set to take place on November 18, 2023. These generous contributions from corporations have collectively amassed a substantial sum of Shs1.7 billion.
Eng Patrick Batumya, the chairperson of the organizing committee, emphasized the importance of community involvement in a king’s wedding, stating, “A king does not make a wedding on his own. It is his people that do, and we are no different.” He made these remarks while receiving a contribution of Shs198 million from the Nation Media Group at its head office on 8th street Namuwongo.
Additionally, Next Media Services, another prominent media company, contributed Shs500 million to the cause, while Nile Breweries Limited offered a significant contribution of Shs450 million.
Notably, the two largest telecom providers in Uganda, MTN Uganda and Airtel Uganda, made substantial contributions of Shs250 million and Shs265 million, respectively. MTN’s Chief Executive Officer, Slyvia Mulinge, expressed their commitment to making a positive impact in all the communities they operate in and their pride in supporting the Busoga Kingdom’s growth and prosperity.
The festivities leading up to the royal wedding include the “Busiki celebrations,” which are planned to take place in Budumbula, Iganga, and Mayuge. These celebrations, set for November 10, 11, and 17, respectively, will feature bull roasting, surprise entertainment, and refreshments.
The highlight of this cultural extravaganza is scheduled for November 18 at Jinja’s Bugembe Christ Cathedral when Kyabazinga Wiliam Gabula Nadiope IV and Ms. Jovia Mutesi will exchange their vows, marking a significant moment in the history of the Busoga Kingdom.
