Businessman surrenders himself to police after shooting his son dead.

A prominent businessman in Lira City, Haji Joe Ogwang, is in police custody after fatally shooting his son, Aaron Okello, during a heated altercation. The incident happened in Ireda Estate, Lira City East Division.
The altercation reportedly erupted when the son demanded money from his father, leading to a confrontation. During the heated exchange, the son attempted to disarm his father, resulting in Ogwang firing a shot.
Emergency services rushed Okello to Lira Medical Center, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival. After the incident, Ogwang voluntarily surrendered himself to the Lira-City central police station.
Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga Police Spokesperson, revealed that the deceased was a deserter from the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) with a history of violence. He also disclosed that the police recovered a Pistol bearing serial number UG IND 99702870, along with 5 rounds of ammunition.
