5 jailed over illegal possession of gun.

Police in Kisoro are holding five people in custody over illegal possession of government stores to wit a firearm, a number of ammunition, military fatigue, GPS machine and Binocular.
The Kigezi Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate, has identified the suspects as PTE Mbazira Trovice attached to Joint Anti-terrorism task force Police Headquarters, Mugisha Bosco 51 a fisherman, Ntaate John 24 a Hawker, Muheki Elias 30 an Irish potato business dealer and one Sekiranda 32 a Boda Boda Rider.
While at Kisoro central Police station, D/sgt Warugaba Lawrence received information on June 13, 2023, from wananchi that there was a vehicle that parked along Busamba Road in Kisoro municipality for a long time.
The officer together with the team of patrollers proceeded to the scene and found motor vehicle UAQ 236M Noah parked along the said road with about six occupants who were arrested and the two others took off.
The four were transferred to Kisoro central Police station and upon search, they were found with three magazines loaded with 90 rounds of ammunition, a pair of UPDF uniform, UPDF warm suit, GPS machine, Binocular, screw driver among others.
In a period of around 30 minutes, Mbazira reported himself at the station claiming ownership of the motor vehicle and some properties therein, alleging that he had given it to his friend who is a driver at Cyanika.
According to Mbazira, the said friend had requested to go somewhere and that for him he had booked a room at Home Lodging Kivengere road in Kisoro Municipality where an SMG rifle no. UPDF XK 576754 loaded with 30 rounds was recovered as well.
Maate said that a case of possessing government stores has been opened at Kisoro central Police station under file number SD 69/13/6/23 as Inquiries are underway to establish their motive.
