John Luwaga, a renowned businessman in Semuto Town Council in Nakaseke District has been shot dead by unidentified gunmen. The incident happened on Saturday at around 11:00pm. According to preliminary reports, the assailants made use of Luwaga’s own vehicle, a Toyota Wish, as their getaway car. The stolen vehicle enabled them to swiftly flee the scene of the crime. The motives behind the shooting remain unclear, and the police are actively investigating the matter. Sam Twineamazima, the police spokesperson for the Savana Region, addressed the incident, stating, “In addition to taking the life of Mr. Luwaga, the suspects also seized his car. Veteran politician Dr. Kizza Besigye has announced his retirement from the fuel retail business and handed over the Total Nsambya fuel station, which he has operated for 27 years, back to Total Energies. At least 56 students were reportedly injured on Saturday night violent strike at Kihihi high school in Kanungu district, western Uganda. According to Kanungu deputy resident district commissioner (RDC) Gad Rugaaju Ahimbisibwe, while the students were sleeping, power suddenly went off and the whole school went into total darkness. In the process, unknown people started vandalizing school property including classroom window glasses, electricity wires among others. The school head teacher’s motor vehicle, a Toyota Rav 4, reg no. At least 16 people have been confirmed dead following a tragic road accident involving a taxi and a Fuso truck. The incident occurred at around 8pm on Sunday at Muhorro town council, Kagadi District along the Kagadi-Kyenjojo-Fort Portal Highway. According to eyewitnesses, a taxi which was heading to Kagadi from Fort Portal, collided head-on with a Fuso truck that was carrying silverfish. “The Fuso truck failed to brake and the driver lost control thus ramming into a taxi. We have so far counted 16 lifeless bodies including that of the taxi driver identified as Henry Acaali,” Mr Felix Amumpaire, an eyewitness said.

Legendary band singer Mesach Semakula has built the late Kato Lubwama’s grave to the modern style. Kato Lubwama died last month because of a heart attack and was burried in the same month at his ancestral home. His grave wasn’t yet built by his family and as a close friend, Mesach Semakula decided to it for the family.
