Police in Jinja City have arrested a 39-year-old woman over the death of her lover – David Kibirige a fourth-year Law student at Uganda Christian University (UCU) in Mukono. Kibirige, 30, was on Sunday morning found dead in an apartment belonging to Ms. Rita Ojuki in Lubaga Village, Jinja South Division. Acting Jinja District Police Commander, Mr. Maurice Niyonzima confirmed Kibirige’s death and the arrest of Ms. Ojuki but could not divulge more details about the incident. Several residents in Kamwokya are counting losses after a fire gutted several makeshift houses this evening, destroying property worth millions of shillings. The fire reportedly started at about 7 pm when the majority of the occupants were still vending along Northern Bypass. Attempts to save household items were unsuccessful as the blazing flames sent neighbours scampering for their lives.
