E.C Clears Supporters Of Museveni, Gen. Tumukunde For Nomination

The supporters who have been cleared so far by the E.C are those of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Gen. Henry Tumukunde, Fred Mwesigye and Kalembe Nancy Linda who are all contesting as Independent candidates. Bobi Wine Trounces Gov’t As Court Dismisses Kibalama’s NUP Case

By Our Reporter The High Court of Uganda has dismissed a case that had been filed against presidential contender Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform (NUP) party, by people who claimed that he had illegally taken over ownership of the party from its former leader Moses Kibalama Nkonge. According to Joel Ssenyonyi, the spokesperson for the NUP/People Power coalition, High Court judge Justice Musa Sekaana dismissed the matter with costs for suit to be met by the petitioners, after they failed to adduce evidence pinning Bobi Wine on illegally taking over the National Unity Platform. By Our Reporter Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, who is a 2021 presidential contender on the National Unity Platform (NUP), has said that the police stole his presidential nomination forms and money worth Shs23M when they raided the NUP offices in Kamwokya on Wednesday. Bobi Wine, who was arrested together with several other NUP members and supporters, although he was later freed, revealed that alleged theft in  tweet on his official twitter handle when he wrote that; “Our team has just finished assessing what has been stolen in broad daylight. Been informed that most of our forms with signatures for nominations have been taken away! They have also taken 23M ugx part of which was meant to facilitate our MP candidates with nomination fees.”...

Candidates in Uganda's upcoming parliamentary elections have until Thursday to pay a nomination fee of a little more than $800 to the Electoral Commission. However, some don't have the money, forcing political parties to appeal for support on social media. Kibalama, who appeared before High Court Judge Musa Sekaana for cross-examination on Friday, answered to the affirmative when asked by Bobi Wine’s lawyer Medard Ssegona Lubega if he wished court would help him regain his freedom that indeed he prayed so. By Our Reporter The Police have Thursday arrested over 20 supporters of Kyadondo East Member of  Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s supporters from the National Unity Platform (NUP) party, who were staging protests in Kamwokya, a city suburb, demanding the arrest of socialite Olim Charles aka Sipapa. Bobi Wine’s NUP supporters were protesting against what they called police’s continued brutality and Sipapa’s endless raids on their headquarters in Kamwokya, where they are usually brutalized by the police.
