Uganda Resumes Commercial Flights After Seven-month Suspension

Uganda on Thursday resumed scheduled commercial passenger flights after seven months of government suspensions over the COVID-19 pandemic. Vianney Luggya, communications officer of Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, told Xinhua by telephone that the phased flight operations at Entebbe International Airport, about 40 km south of the capital Kampala, resumed after the government eased COVID-19 restrictions on aviation. He said the first passenger flight to arrive at Entebbe airport was Turkish Airlines, which landed at 3:55 a.m. and departed at 4:50 a.m. local time. "The flights have resumed today. Brussels Airlines to Expand its Operations to Uganda/Africa this Winter

Brussels Airlines has revised its previously advised winter schedule and will now operate more flights and rotations as it extends its route network, the carrier confirmed this week.  During the winter period, 25 October to 27 March the airline will offer up to 40% more flights to and from Africa.    Intercontinental network At the start of the winter season, 14 destinations will be included in the airline’s intercontinental offer, with a sole focus on Africa. The airline will expand its offer with 12% as of October 25th . As of this winter, Brussels Airlines will fly to Abidjan on a daily base. Uganda Prepares to Welcome International Flights from Thursday

Uganda is set to reopen its air borders on Oct. 1 after lifting restrictions on international travel, the Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has announced. With airports shut for over six months due to COVID-19 restriction measures, flights into the country will resume on Thursday. All tests must be carried out within 72 hours of arrival from an accredited laboratory. Ugandans returning to the country will be allowed to go home without quarantine measures if in possession of a negative test result.
