Untold pomp and glamour engulfed Kampala mogul Sudhir Ruparelia’s Kingdom Kampala Mall on Friday, as a group of Chinese investors opened the first ever global supermarket in Uganda.
The business facility, which has since been named Shopping Union Supermarket, is an umbrella organisation that brings together several traders in various commodities, who will be operating under one conglomerate.
Elite News has learnt that the Union Shopping Mall will not only bring together Chinese businessmen but also traders of other ethnicities who can abide by the regulations of the organization.
While commenting about the development Crane Management Services, the company that handles properties owned under the Ruparelia Group, posted thus on social media;
“Shopping Union, a global shopping brand opened it’s doors for the first time in Uganda. It is located at Kingdom Kampala. The event was graced by our Chairman Dr Sudhir Ruparelia.”
Kingdom Kampala Mall, which currently houses the global supermarket, is one the several properties owned under Sudhir’s Ruparelia Group.
Kingdom Kampala Mall is already attracting top clients that consist of corporate companies, civil society organisations, government agencies and ministries, according to Prabhat Mishra, the General Manager at Crane Management Services Limited.
Speaking to the media in an interview recently, Mishra said they are impressed with the bookings so far and are ready to offer first class service to tenants.
Located along Nile Avenue in Kampala city, the Kingdom Towers is an additional investment to Ruparelia Group of companies.
The Mall sits on a 14-acre piece of land located on Nile Avenue, Yusuf Lule Road and Dewinton Road, just to the North-East of Kampala Central Business District.
