The Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Uganda (OGAU), which brings together all individuals, academic training institutions and the training service providers in the Oil and Gas sector from Government and private sectors has officially been launched.
The official launch, which was held on Thursday February 14, 2020, was presided over by Mr. Alex Kakooza, the Permanent Secretary ministry of Education and Sports.
He was flanked by Mr. Robert Kasande, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, and Mr. Ali Ssekatawa, the Director Legal and Corporate Affairs at the PAU.
During the launch Kakooza said that “There is need for the Government and private sector players to strengthen inter-linkages with other Sector Skills Councils, in order to bridge the training gaps needed for such an umbrella organization like this.”
The Association members also elected an executive committee from among the members which will be responsible for steering the Association’s activities.
The newly elected Executive Committee members of the Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Uganda are:
i) Chairperson: Bernard Ongodia, the Principal of Uganda Petroleum Institute Kigumba (UPIK)
ii) Vice Chairperson: Patrick Mbonye, Managing Director, The Assessment and Skilling Center (TASC)/ Q-Sourcing Group
iii) Secretary General: Juliet Kakoma, Strategic Human Resource Expert, Solid Rock Life and Business
iv) Publicity: Joseph Kanyesigye, Training Coordinator Sun maker Oil and Gas Training Institute
v) Treasurer: Patrick Ruharuza, CEO Institute of Petroleum Studies Kampala (IPSK)
