Katikkiro Launches Mass Covid 19 Vaccination Drive

Ministry of Works Takes Over Motor Vehicle Registration from URA

The Ministry of Works and Transport has officially taken on the role to manage the registration of motor vehicles in Uganda, a service that has initially been done by Uganda Revenue Authority (URA). This means all post registration processes under the Domestic Taxes Department in URA will henceforth be handled by the works ministry effective November 3, 2021. URA in the interim will remain responsible for motor vehicle customs clearance and first time registration namely issurance of first time number plates for newly imported motor vehicles. The National Drug Authority (NDA) together with police have arrested a suspected illegal drug dealer in Namisindwa district following traces from her retail agents in Busoga and Mbale areas. The human and animal drugs are said to have been smuggled from Kenya through the porous borders and adulteration before being distributed to retailers across the region. Officials from the Uganda Railways Corporation (URC) were sent away from the Committee of Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) for lack of proper documentation on the sale of the corporation property. The officials had appeared before the committee to answer queries in the Auditor General’s report about the inventories and status of property ownership. Committee Chairperson, Hon Joel Ssenyonyi said the committee was not satisfied with the land in question that was sold without the knowledge of the government entity. “Being a government entity, the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets procedures had to be followed during the disposal. 3 Children Died In A Blast In Nakaseke District

The explosion occurred in Nakaseke district, 60km (27 miles) north of the capital, Kampala. It killed a 14-year-old and a second child with disabilities, police spokesman Asan Kasingye said in a tweet. Two children have died after a suspected bomb exploded at Ssegalye village, Nakaseke district.
