In the bid to address depression and mental health disorders amongst the learners, the ministry of education and sports has launched a mental health circular in schools; with a call from the civil society organization to the government to increase the mental health funding that has left thousands without proper treatment. The High Court’s International Crimes Division has set February 20, 2023, as the date on which the two jailed members of parliament, Hon. Ssegirinya and Hon. Ssewanyana, will appear in court to request bail. The pair appeared via zoom rather than physically appearing before the court. The pre-trial proceedings have been postponed by the court’s registrar, Pamela Lamunu Ocaya, who claimed that she had to take this action because trial judge Alice Komuhangi Khauka was not present. Dickens Agumeneitwe, a suspect in the murder of Makerere University student Jackline Nakabembe, has asked for pardon, saying that he never intended to kill her even after a disagreement between them. Nakabembe was reported missing for more than a month in October until her body was found in a trench in Naguru, a suburb of Kampala. In the aftermath, police tracked one of her mobile phones which was found with one Rasta, a resident of Naguru Go-down. The executive director of Dairy Development Authority (DDA), Dr Micheal Kansiime has passed away. His death was confirmed on Wednesday morning by DDA, through their social media platforms. “We regret to announce the death of our hitherto Executive Director Dr Kansiime who succumbed last night after a long illness. May the Lord grant him Eternal Peace. Pray for the family and staff in this dark hour,” DDA tweeted. It is reported that Kansiime, had for long been battling a kidney disease until he lost the battle on Tuesday night.
