The Inspectorate of Government-IG arrested the Bukoto South Member of Parliament, Twaha Kagabo on bribery allegations. The legislator was picked up shortly after he tried to return the Shillings 40million he reportedly recieved from the residence of the Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among under unclear circumstances. He was arrested by the Parliamentary police, which handed him to the Inspectorate of Government. “It is alleged that the MP had received a bribe of 40 million. Muslims mourn Sheikh Ibrahim Nkangi.

Muslims across the country have mourned the death of Sheikh Ibrahim Nkangi, the former Kadhi of West Buganda and a senior advisor in the office of the mufti of Uganda who died on Tuesday morning. Nkangi passed away at the age of 96 from Platinum Hospital in Kampala. Muslims from different factions applauded and appreciated the role played by Nkangi in the propagation of Islam in Uganda. Parliament of Uganda has summoned Janet Kataaha Kainembabazi Museveni, the Minister of Education and Sports, as well as Wilson Muruli Mukasa, the Minister of Public Service, over the issue of salaries for secondary school arts teachers as well as head teachers and deputy head teachers. The orders were issued by Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among after MPs Joseph Ssewungu Gonzaga of Kalungu West and Geoffrey Macho of Busia Municipality raised complaints over the issues of arts teachers’ low morale and school heads’ complaints. The bombardier CRJ, a Uganda Airlines plane carrying Somali leader Hassan Shiekh Mohamud has Monday afternoon touched down at Entebbe Airport. Security at the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs this morning blocked the mother of Kawempe North Member of Parliament, Muhammad Ssegirinya and his wife from meeting the Minister. Justine Nakajumba wanted to meet Minister Nobert Mao to express her disappointment in the justice system. However, she was told to return tomorrow if they are to meet the Minister. For a long time, Nakajumba, has been asking the state and pardon her son who has been in prison on separate charges of murder, attempted murder, aiding and abetting terrorism in connection a recent spate of killings in Masaka sub region which claimed close to 30 lives. He and his Makindye East counterpart Allan Ssewanyana remain confined at Kitalya prisons.

The National Unity Platform (NUP) party has withdrawn its candidate in the Bukimbiri county by-election in favour of James Owebeyi, a candidate belonging to the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC). The withdrawn candidate is 19-year-old Joshua Mutabazi who had been nominated on Tuesday to contest alongside Owebeyi, Eddie Kwizera Wagahungu of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) and independent candidate, Edward Mutabazi.
