Buddo SS deservedly won the 2019 national secondary schools Music, dance and drama festival after finding all their presented items with merit. Buddo SS won the title for three straight times since 2015 but did not participate last year as Mackay College, Nateete won the title. Buddo SS, also an excellent school in academics and sports, won a total of seven trophies from the 2019 national MDD competition held on September 1-7 at Nyakasura School and Kyebambe Girls in Kabarole district. Buddo SS which scored 986 points in 11 items beat the defending champion Mackay College, Nateete thatcame second with 984 points. Bweranyangi girls Secondary School, Bushenyi came third with 954 points. The hosts Nyakasura School and Kyembabe Girls’ School took 21st and 15th positions respectively. Sixty (60) secondary schools participated in this year’s week-long competition organized under the theme “vision 2040 – harnessing young potential for Uganda social economic transformation.” At the party to officially receive the trophies, Buddo SS head master Lawrence Muwonge hailed the team work and integrity of his team. To win the overall champions title, the Wakiso School came atop in poem and taxation, creative dance, set piece, western original composition, African original composition and drama. Away from team trophies, Shamitah Kigongo and Charles Mwanga were the best instrumentalists while James Kamulegeya was the best in drums. Yawe Moses and Josephine Nanyunja were named best traditional male and female dancers respectively while Patricia Ankunda was named best speaker. Buddo SS are also the national and East Africa basketball Boys champions.
