The State Minister for Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Amos Logoloobi has been released on a cash bail of Shs10 million by the Anti-Corruption Court grade one Magistrate Ebert Asiimwe on charges related to the diversion of iron sheets meant to benefit the vulnerable communities of Karamoja. He has been ordered to deposit his diplomatic passport before court, not to travel out of the country without court’s knowledge, to deposit his land title for his home at Makindye Lukuli Kizungu zone, and to desist from interfering with investigations and state witnesses. Police in Kampala are investigating circumstances under which fire gutted their sister station in Ntinda. Accordingly, the incident happened at around 9:45 PM, before the fire prevention and rescue services responded put out the fire. “Investigators have moved in to ascertain the exact cause of the fire,” said Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson. Owoyesigyire noted that preliminary findings have revealed that the fire started from the barracks as a result of negligence and spread to the nearest traffic office. “It is alleged that two children set a fire inside the barracks that came in contact with electric cables. Efforts are underway to move towards injectable treatment for HIV/AIDS, relieving HIV patients of the burden of taking drugs daily. This was revealed by the Executive Director of the Infectious Disease Institute (IDI), Dr Andrew Kambugu during a press briefing on Wednesday, 19 April 2023. A 38-year-old man from Along “A” Village in the Chegere sub-county in Apac District was ordered to return a puppy that he admitted to stealing along with one cow as a fine. Last week, Tonny Odic allegedly stole a puppy from his neighbour’s house and sold it for Shs5,000 to a friend. “When his neighbour inquired about the puppy, he denied stealing it; however, when we interrogated him, he admitted stealing it and agreed to pay the owner one cow as a fine,” said Luzino Omara, the area chairman. Primary and secondary schools across the country have started the process of registratiing of candidates slated to sit the 2023 end of cycle Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb). According to Uneb, the registration of candidates slated to sit Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) started on April 1. The spokesperson of Uneb, Ms Jenipher Kalule toldthis reporters that the registration is slated to run for two months, ending May 31.
