President Yoweri Museveni has responded to public complaints about the lengthy road closures whenever he travels by saying that it is a precautionary measure by his elite force, the Special Forces Command. The High Court’s International Crimes Division has set February 20, 2023, as the date on which the two jailed members of parliament, Hon. Ssegirinya and Hon. Ssewanyana, will appear in court to request bail. The pair appeared via zoom rather than physically appearing before the court. The pre-trial proceedings have been postponed by the court’s registrar, Pamela Lamunu Ocaya, who claimed that she had to take this action because trial judge Alice Komuhangi Khauka was not present.
