Kadaga launches 2022 Miss Curvy Pageant in Africa.

The Minister for East Africa Community Affairs, Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has launched the controversial Miss Curvy pageant. Kadaga posted on her Twitter handle stating that the pageant has been stretched to include East, Central, and Southern African states. “This afternoon, I Commissioned the launch of the contest for Miss Curvy Africa, below is the reigning Queen Belinda and both Runners up from the contest in 2019, The final Contest will involve contestants from East, West, Central, and South Africa on the 25th November,” she tweeted. The pageant was introduced by one Annie Mungoma to counter other pageants which aimed at identifying slender, tall women. Miss Curvy on the other hand seeks to determine the most curvaceous woman. Parliament has nominated 28 candidates to vie for the nine slots in the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA). The two-day exercise started on Monday, and 15 candidates, all independent aspirants, were nominated. 13 aspirants presented their nomination papers on the last day of the two-day activity presided over by the Clerk to Parliament, Adolf Mwesige Kasaija, at Parliament’s Conference Hall. All nominated candidates will be invited to open campaigning before Members of the 11th Parliament who form the electorate on September 29 at Parliament. MPs pardons MP Kagabo over breach of rules.

Members of Parliament have adopted the report of the Committee on Rules, Privileges and Discipline pardoning Twaha Kagabo, the Bukoto County South MP for misconduct. On Tuesday, 09 August 2022, during plenary, Speaker Anita Among in her communication raised a matter of the breach of the Code of Conduct for Members of Parliament under Appendix F of the Rules of Procedure of Parliament by Kagabo. The Speaker stated that Kagabo appeared before the media carrying Shs40 million which he claimed he had received from her and sought to return to her. Kagabo was referred to the rules committee. Pastor Geoffrey Ssemwogerere of New Jerusalem Church in Seguku, Wakiso district is behind bars at Kajjansi police station for allegedly chaining 12 people to purportedly heal them from mental illness and bad omen. According to locals, Ssemwogerere had chained his victims inside his church for at least six weeks. The victims include men, women, and children. It took the courage of two locals who peeped inside the church after hearing the voices of the victims to alert the police.
