Airtel Uganda joined Huawei Uganda and the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance in a campaign to improve Uganda's service delivery, social and economic transformation through offering quality and affordable ICT services. This was executed through a Memorandum of Understanding that was launched between Huawei Uganda and the Ministry of ICT on 19th May 2022 in the National Innovation Hub at Uganda Institute of Communications Technologies (UICT), Nakawa. A Uganda People’s Defense Forces soldier has been remanded to Makindye military police barracks on charges of robbing 100 million shillings from Shafik Bukenya, a businessman dealing in gold. The Court of Appeal in Kampala is today expected to deliver its judgment in a petition filed by former Rujumbura county legislator Fred Tumuheirwe Turyamuhweza challenging the election of Security minister, Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi Katugugu. Gen Muhwezi is being represented by former deputy Attorney General Mwesigwa Rukutana of Mwesigwa Rukutana & Co. Advocates. Recently the High Court in Kabale has upheld the victory of Security Minister Jim Katugugu Muhwezi, as Rujumbura County Member of Parliament however, Hon Turyamuhweza appealed the case. The people of Rujumbura County are waiting for the judgment today. The Electoral Commission declared Gen Muhwezi the winner of the January 14th elections with 23,990 votes while the petitioner polled 20,556 votes.

A group of Kooki Chiefdom loyalists went to Lwamaggwa Sub County and protested against a football match organised by Buganda Kingdom officials on May 20, 2022. The demonstration prompted police to suspend the football tournament on orders of Rakai Resident District commissioner Ms Sarah Kiyimba, suspecting that the games will breed conflict between loyalists from Buganda Kingdom and Kooki chiefdom. Police dispersed football fans who had gathered to watch two games at different playgrounds in the sub counties of Lwamaggwa and Kifamba over the weekend.
