Prof. Anthony Kabanza Mbonye, husband to Lucy Nakyobe Mbonye, the out going State House comptroller, has died. The former director general Health Services died Sunday morning, according to statement from State House. “We regret to announce the passing of Prof. Anthony Kabanza Mbonye, husband to Lucy Nakyobe Mbonye, the out going State house comptroller,” State House tweeted on Sunday. Prof Mbonye resigned from Ministry of Health in 2018 after serving for more than 30 years. Mbonye who earned his PhD from the university of Copenhagen also taught at Makerere University School of Public Health since 1996 and at the Uganda Christian University since 2008.

National Unity Platform (NUP) has revealed that at least Shs1 million will be slashed off from each of party MP’s Shs200 Million received from government to buy brand new cars. The party said the money will go to the party to facilitate a string of services which include the construction of party offices. While speaking to press, opposition Chief Whip, Mr John Baptist Nambeshe indicated that the NUP party lawmakers had voluntarily resolved to commit at least Shs1M to finance activities. “The members themselves so wished that as a party that is leading in Parliament and is hardly a year-old in Parliament, we need to demonstrate maturity by acquiring own property. Several residents in Kamwokya are counting losses after a fire gutted several makeshift houses this evening, destroying property worth millions of shillings. The fire reportedly started at about 7 pm when the majority of the occupants were still vending along Northern Bypass. Attempts to save household items were unsuccessful as the blazing flames sent neighbours scampering for their lives.
