Residents of Mukono district have raised concern over the some of the health facilities that are instead charging them money for covid-19 testing a move that has frustrated the exercise. Residents have pinned Mukono Church of Uganda commonly known as (Namirembe) and Mukono General hospitals to be behind this evil practice in the Mukono district. Both hospitals are among several facilities in Mukono that have been supplied with rapid diagnostic test (RDT) kits to carry out free quick Covid-19 tests of people in the district following an upsurge in Covid-19 cases in the ongoing second wave.  However, Mukono Church of Uganda hospital charges Shs 40,000 while Mukono General hospital charges Shs 20,000 per test. Stone Minners in Busiba stone quarry in Nakisunga subcounty Mukono district are in tears, after one of their workmate died when a stone quarry caved in. Witnesses say the incident occurred at  The police car patrol that went to retrieve the body around 9am, when Robert Waswa who died instantly and Musana Emanuel, were were quarrying stones at the bottom of a cliff.  “The cliff collapsed on them and one died on the spot, the other one survived with injuries after being rescued by his workmates", said the quarry workers. MAN COMMITS SUICIDE IN MUKONO POLICE CELL. Police in Mukono district is investigating circumstances under which 41 year old, Kiberu apparently committed suicide inside the police cells at Seeta Nazigo police station on Monday night. It's reported that Kiberu was alone in the police cells and used his long sleeved shirt to strangle himself. Kiberu, a resident of Wankoba village in Nakisunga subcounty was detained after reportedly cutting eight puppies belonging to his neighbors, Steven Ssemakula on Monday evening. Rukungiri - The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu has appointed Rt Rev. Patrick Tugume Tusingwire as the caretaker Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese in Rukungiri district following the death of Bishop Benon Magezi. Bishop Magezi succumbed to COVID 19 on Tuesday at Mulago National Referral Hospital.  Archbishop Kaziimba has made the announcement during the burial of the Rt. Rev. Benon Magezi at Emmanuel Cathedral, Rukungiri. Uganda People’s Defense Forces-UPDF and Local defence unit officers have arrested a man posing to be an LDU officer, The suspect is 38-year-old Aziizi Sempala, a resident of Kyawamboggo village in Nakisunga Sub County in Mukono district. Mukono Police together with UPDF officers searched Ssempala's house and discovered government stores such as army uniforms, one bullet, tents among others.  Sempala is accused together with three others who are at large. In abid to fight the surging covid 19 pandemic in Uganda, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni announced Friday that the country is banning private and public transportation in an effort to curtail the spread of COVID-19 variants.
