The Commissioner General of Prisons, Dr.Johnson Byabashaija was on Tuesday the first person to take a Covid-19 jab as the Uganda Prisons Services launched immunization of officers. Mukono court's, His worship Tadeo Muyinda has jailed the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party Mukono administrator, over allegations of stealing 27 million shillings, meant for Mukono youth (NRM) cadres. At least 500 people have been left homeless after fire destroyed about 150 homes at Kizilu landing site on lake victoria Mpunge sub county in the district of Mukono. Among property destroyed are boat engines, fishing nets, domestic property and hard cash amounting to 50 millions. Preliminary investigations indicated that fire started from a petrol vendor, who was selling off petrol in his house which had a burning charcoal stove. He added that the fire destroyed almost all the houses at the landing site on Lake Victoria where most of the residents were fish dealers. The Project which had been delayed for sixteen years due to lack of enough land for the private investor (BIDCO Uganda Ltd) was to establish 50,000 hectares of the plant and another 2,500 hectares by small scale farmers on Island.   With about seven hundred tenants compensated to leave their land, most of the land has been acquired and already mapped to ensure that the project takes off.
