The National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine has said that he no longer fears to be killed and that even if he gets killed during the struggle, his supporters to not turn back.

Katumba (24yrs) is the youngest presidential candidate in Uganda’s electoral history to stand for the country’s top office. John Katumba has revealed that his Landlord has increased his rent by 50%, citing that he is harboring Uganda’s next president. He is in the race with 3 retired army Generals, and 8 other civilians.
Katumba who resides in Ntinda, a Kampala suburb, says that he was shocked to find a letter in his door when he returned from his campaigns in the northern part of the country.
“I found a letter in my door signed by my landlord. In the letter, he said that my rent has been increased by 50% and that I should be paying a year in advance. Initially, I have been paying my rent normally but I am shocked to see this from him,” devastated Katumba said.

The family of Esther Nakajjigo, a Ugandan activist who died in a tragic accident in the USA early this year, is demanding over $270m (Shs998Bn) in compensation and damages.
Nakajjigo was the European Commission Young Leader and the US Department of State Young African Leader, a member of the Women Ambassadors’ Forum in Dallas, Texas, and a youth expert at the African Union-European Union Youth Cooperation Hub in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
In an interview carried by CBS4 television station in Denver this week, Ludovic Michaud, Nakajjigo’s husband, who lives in Colorado, said he still has flashbacks of the accident and is "trying to figure out how to move forward, how to wake up in the morning."

The planned campaigns for presidential candidate Lt. Gen. Henry Tumukunde, which were scheduled to be held in Kasese District today have flopped after scuffles between his supporters and the police.
Gen. Tumukunde, who is contesting on Independent ticket and had planned to hold scientific campaigns in Kasese in accordance with the Electoral Commission (E.C) Standard Operating Procedures, was shocked after the police blocked him from holding the same, without giving him any reasons.

It is unfortunate that political campaigns are becoming volatile, with incidents of violence.
Campaigns are supposed to be civil, to help political candidates to popularize their manifestos. The running battles between security, candidates and supporters however can’t permit stakeholders to harness the real meaning of the campaigning period.
Some of the actions of security agencies are very high-handed, reckless and could result in fatalities – if not checked. In some instances, the behavior of candidates’ supporters is provocative.
