Tanzania, Uganda To Resume Crude Oil Pipeline Talks

By Keefa Nuwahereza The future of Uganda’s oil sector is brightening up after President John Pombe Magufuli’s government agreed to resume talks of constructing   the crude oil pipeline from the Albertine Graben an oil refinery in Tanzania. This website has learnt that Negotiations for a Host Government Agreement (HGA) for the East African Crude Oil Pipe-line (EACOP) project will start soon. This follows completion of Total Oil's acquisition of 33.334 percent of Tullow Oil's stake, thus paving way for the French oil giant to own a 66.7 percent of upstream stake in the project. Uganda’s COVID-19 Cases Rise To 870 As World Death Toll Hits 500,000

By Keefa Nuwahereza The Ministry of Health has announced that the number of cumulative Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Uganda has risen to 870, after results from samples tested on  June 28th, 2020 confirmed 11 new COVID-19 cases, who are all Ugandans. Officials from the Ministry revealed that 4 of the confirmed cases are among 1,784 cases tested from Points of Entry, while 7 are among 546 samples of alerts and contacts and that  the Total COVID-19 recoveries are  808. By Elite News Reporter The government of Iran has issued an arrest warrant and asked Interpol for help in detaining American President Donald Trump and dozens of others it believes carried out the drone strike that killed a top Iranian general in Baghdad. Tehran prosecutor Ali Alqasimehr said on Monday that Trump and over 30 others who Iran accuses of involvement in the January 3 strike that killed General Qassem Soleimani face "murder and terrorism charges", the semi-official ISNA news agency reported.
