The 32-year-old, who won her fourth world 100m title last Sunday, ran a storming second leg to put Jamaica firmly in the driving seat. Shericka Jackson had a big enough lead to breach the line in 41.44 seconds with Britain's 200m world champion Dina Asher-Smith anchoring her team to the silver (41.85sec). For Asher-Smith, it completed a superb championshps as she also took silver in the 100m. Defending champions the United States rounded off an underwhelming championshps for their 100/200m women sprinters, taking bronze in 42.10sec.

Shanieka Ricketts of Jamaica took silver with a best of 14.92m while Colombia's Olympic champion Caterine Ibarguen won bronze (14.73m).

Marc Marquez secured his sixth MotoGP premier class world title with a dramatic victory at the Thailand Grand Prix, as Fabio Quartararo was cruelly denied a maiden race win. Marquez, who has now been crowned champion in six of his seven seasons at the highest level, edged out Quartararo on the final corner to leave the Frenchman crestfallen. Yamaha rider Quartararo, who started on pole for the fourth time this season, led for the vast majority of the race only to eventually be passed by Repsol Honda rider Marquez in the closing stages.
